Is Intergalactic War Inevitable?
Former Canadian Minister of Defense and Deputy Prime Minister, Paul Hellyer, thinks so.
"UFOs, are as real as the airplanes that fly over your head ...... I'm so concerned about what the consequences might be of starting an intergalactic war, that I just think I had to say something."
--Paul Hellyer
In the spirit of keeping discussions "technical" in nature, how can the IT community prepare for such an intergalactic war waged against an even smarter ET community? ETs certainly have AT which would have our own IT community working not only OT, but certainly UT as well.
And if an evacuation is necessary, to where would we evacuate? (And let's not even think about the "food chain" thing.)
"The Bush administration has finally agreed to let the military build a forward base on the moon, which will put them in a better position to keep track of the goings and comings of the visitors from space, and to shoot at them, if they so decide."

Kate Moss has clinched a £1. 2million modelling contract with mobile phone giant Virgin - her first since being photographed taking cocaine. The shamed supermodel will begin shooting the ads in Los Angeles next month.
The 31-year-old lost contracts with top designer Chanel and high street store H+M after her cocaine habit was made public. But since spending time in The Meadows rehab clinic in Arizona the mum-of-one is looking slim and healthy and has begun to receive lucrative offers.
A source revealed: "She's sorted herself out and she has a new approach to life"

'Beer goggles' effect explained
Scientists believe they have worked out a formula to calculate how "beer goggles" affect a drinker's vision.
The drink-fuelled phenomenon is said to transform supposedly "ugly" people into beauties - until the morning after.
Researchers at Manchester University say while beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder, the amount of alcohol consumed is not the only factor.
Additional factors include the level of light in the pub or club, the drinker's own eyesight and the room's smokiness.

"The president has said that as soon as Iraqi forces are ready, we want to see a reduction in our own forces, and I think those days are going to be coming fairly soon when Iraqis are going to be more and more capable of carrying out the functions to secure their own future," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told FOX News in an interview.

November 23, 2005 -- Michael Jackson may love the children of the world — but he doesn't like Jews, according to a blockbuster new audiotape that apparently captures the Gloved One waxing anti-Semitic to a former business manager.
"They suck," the King of Pop is allegedly heard saying on a voicemail message left the ex-adviser.
"They're like leeches . . . I'm so tired of it . . . they start out the most popular person in the world, make a lot of money, big house, cars and everything. End up penniless. It is conspiracy. The Jews do it on purpose."
Jackson was also heard on other tapes demanding lackeys get wads of cash for him from accounts the financially troubled troubadour wasn't supposed to be touching — and courier them to him in paper fast-food bags.

KIM SUED OVER DELI SHOOTING BY POSSE
November 21, 2005 -- Jailed rap diva Lil' Kim is facing new legal woes — again over a shooting by her Junior M.A.F.I.A. posse.
A Brooklyn Supreme Court judge has issued a default judgment against the raunchy rapper after she ignored a civil suit arising from an August 2001 shooting that involved four members of the crew.
Ron Mysliwiec, lawyer for plaintiff Michael Goody, 25, said he is seeking $1 million.
Kim's lawyer Mel Sachs said he'll seek to have the judgment vacated. "It can be shown that she was not involved and was not aware of the incident," he said.

Open Door Policy
Trying to make light of the situation, Bush made faces for the cameras until an aide came to his rescue × and escorted him to the correct exit, a gap in the backdrop partition about 10 feet away
"I was trying to escape," Bush admitted. "Obviously, it didn't work."
It was an act. How will the leftist media twist this one.
Definitely humorous for me :)

The Iraq Liberation Act / By Bill Clinton
The United States favors an Iraq that offers its people freedom at home. I categorically reject arguments that this is unattainable due to Iraq's history or its ethnic or sectarian make-up. Iraqis deserve and desire freedom like everyone else. The United States looks forward to a democratically supported regime that would permit us to enter into a dialogue leading to the reintegration of Iraq into normal international life.

Clinton: Iraq has abused its last chance
The president said Iraq's refusal to cooperate with U.N. weapons inspectors presented a threat to the entire world.
"Saddam (Hussein) must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons," Clinton said.
Operation Desert Fox, a strong, sustained series of attacks, will be carried out over several days by U.S. and British forces, Clinton said.
"Earlier today I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces," Clinton said.
"Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors," said Clinton.
Clinton also stated that, while other countries also had weapons of mass destruction, Hussein is in a different category because he has used such weapons against his own people and against his neighbors.
(It was ok back then, what happened now. The difference is this time we're gonna finish the job. )

GOP FORCES WAR FOES TO REJECT 'CUT-RUN' VOTE
Following a venom-soaked four-hour debate, all but nine Democrats joined Republicans in voting down a GOP-authored red herring resolution — 3 to 403 with six Dems voting only present — demanding troops come home now, a substitute of Murtha's mandate calling for withdrawal at the "earliest practicable date."

Are you always recharging or replacing the batteries in your handheld devices? Have we got news for you: Hitachi says it has developed a fuel-cell battery that uses methanol, air, and water to provide a cheap, long-lasting power source for portable devices.
The prototype is about 0.4 inches in diameter and 2.0 inches to 2.4 inches long, or similar to an AA battery. Hitachi says it plans to continue development of the device and put it on the market in 2005 along with a compatible PDA. At least two other Japanese companies, NEC and Toshiba, are developing similar devices.

Blake Liable for Wife's Murder
# Jury in civil lawsuit awards children of Bonny Lee Bakley $30 million in damages.
By Andrew Blankstein, Times Staff Writer
A jury today found Robert Blake liable under civil law for his wife's murder four years ago, and awarded her children $30 million in damages against him.
The 72-year-old entertainer, best known for his roles in "Our Gang," "In Cold Blood" and "Baretta," was acquitted of murder earlier this year when a separate jury could not find evidence beyond a reasonable doubt against him for the murder of Bonny Lee Bakley.

Canon's New EOS 5D DSLR ($3,300 street, body only) is a study in the yin and yang of camera design. On the one hand, its 12.8MP full-frame CMOS sensor eliminates the 35mm lens factor found on all lower-priced DSLRs and gives it a potential image-quality edge. On the other hand, it costs more than twice as much as the 8.2MP EOS 20D ($1,300 street) from which it was cloned, and it's missing a few of the 20D's features. So you might ask, if the EOS 5D takes a picture in the woods and nobody hears it, does it make a sound purchase? Put simply, yes. Which is why we made it our 2005 Camera of the Year.

New Traffic Reporting / Via Cell Phones Signals
Some U.S. states prohibit drivers from talking on hand-held cellphones lest they become distracted, slow down traffic or, worse, cause an accident. Others are finding that cellphones and driving might not make such a bad mix.
Several state transportation agencies, including those in Maryland and Virginia, are beginning to test technology that allows them to monitor traffic by tracking cellphone signals and mapping them against road grids. The technology highlights how readily cellphones can become tracking devices for companies or government agencies - a development that troubles privacy advocates.
