First Lady Laura Bush yesterday slapped down Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton
January 19, 2006 -- WASHINGTON — First Lady Laura Bush yesterday slapped down Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's racially charged claim that Republicans run the House of Representatives "like a plantation."
"I think it's ridiculous. It's a ridiculous comment — that's what I think," Bush told reporters aboard her plane, sparking laughter as they flew home from an Africa trip.
She spoke out the day after her husband's spokesman, Scott McClellan, said it was "out of bounds" for Clinton to blast Republicans by using the racially charged buzzword "plantation" on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.
Clinton sparked the storm by telling a mostly black Harlem crowd: "When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation — and you know what I'm talking about."

When she runs for office I will repsect what she has to say, they want it both ways, no one is allowed to criticize Laura Bush, but she can speak out against "elected" officials whenever she damn well pleases.
Sighhhhh.
